At Partenon, We’ve Broken Our Sustainability Record: In 2024 We Managed 60% More Textile Waste

Sustainability and circular economy principles are fundamental pillars of Partenon’s corporate strategy. In line with these principles, we are pleased to share the results achieved in textile waste management during 2024.

A total of 12,425 kilograms of material were processedan increase of 60% compared to the 7,665 kilograms recorded in 2023.

Environmental Management Results

The 2024 figures demonstrate significant progress toward our environmental goals.

Managing 12,425 kg of textile waste prevented that material from ending up in landfills. Moreover, this process avoided the emission of 39.37 tons of greenhouse gases (CO2), representing a 62% increase compared to the 24.29 tons prevented the previous year.

Collaboration Criteria in Environmental Waste Management

To ensure proper recycling processes, Partenon applies strict criteria in selecting its environmental partners.

Our partners must be specialized in comprehensive textile waste management, with a proven social and environmental commitment. Their work must cover the entire life cycle of the waste, acting as agent, transporter, and authorized handler for non-hazardous waste. The procedure must ensure collection and subsequent treatment of textile materials for reuse or recycling, fully compliant with waste hierarchy regulations.

The primary goal of these collaborations aligns with ours: protecting the environment and combating climate change through circular economy practices. This ensures that joint efforts not only prevent waste from ending up in landfills but also contribute to a fairer, more sustainable industrial model.

Sustainability Begins with Design

Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond end-of-life garment management—it begins at the design stage. The foundation of our philosophy is the creation of high-quality uniforms made from top-grade materials and through demanding manufacturing processes, resulting in exceptional durability.

The longer a garment lasts, the less often it needs to be replaced. This not only reduces costs for law enforcement agencies but also cuts resource consumption and waste generation over time. Extending product lifespan is one of the most effective contributions to sustainability.

Furthermore, when one of our uniforms reaches the end of its long service life, the quality of its fibers makes a crucial difference. In a context where the textile industry struggles with fast fashion and low-quality garments that overwhelm recycling systems, our materials maintain integrity that enables effective recycling. This allows them to be transformed into new products, truly closing the circular economy loop. Therefore, quality is not only a guarantee of performance for the wearer—it’s also the first and most essential step toward real sustainability: producing less, but better.

Specialized Service for Official Uniform Management

Official uniforms require specific management protocols at the end of their service life. Because they carry identifying emblems, these garments cannot be disposed of through conventional channels for security reasons.

What happens to old uniforms? When an officer replaces their uniform or when an entire department updates its apparel, thousands of garments appear that cannot be treated as regular waste.

To address this issue, we offer a dedicated after-sales service for managing uniforms once their service life has ended. When a client renews their gear or requests the service, we provide special containers so that, upon receiving the new uniforms, they can safely deposit the old ones. We then handle collection directly from the headquarters and ensure safe delivery to our authorized waste management partner, guaranteeing a proper and responsible treatment process.

Through this initiative, we offer a comprehensive solution to our clients while contributing actively to the sector’s sustainability.

Collaboration with Dénia Local Police on Uniform Recycling

A perfect example of this initiative is our recent collaboration with the Dénia Local Police, whom we supported throughout the entire process of recycling their used uniforms. In this joint effort, 85 kilograms of textile material were recycled following a rigorous and certified procedure:

1. We first provided special containers for officers to deposit garments appropriately.
2. We then managed collection from the police headquarters and delivery to our textile recycling partner, a company exclusively dedicated to textile waste management.
3. Finally, our partner recycled the garments responsibly, ensuring compliance with current environmental regulations.

MOVES III Program Beneficiary

Thanks to our environmental commitment, Partenon has been a beneficiary of the “Efficient Electric Mobility Incentive Program” (MOVES III).

This grant, part of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, was awarded through the Xunta de Galicia and the Galician Energy Institute (INEGA). It is funded by the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, and co-financed by the European Union through NextGenerationEU funds.

This support enables us to move toward cleaner and more sustainable mobility, reduce our carbon footprint, promote renewable energy use, and contribute to the decarbonization of transport.
